For
the Sacred Two Spirit/Transgendered/Transsexual Beings:
The
Temple blesses you on your Holy and Heroic Path and
holds you as an Honored, Unique and Divine Being created
just as the Goddess made you the day you were born,
and just as you have, in your Sacred Freedom, created
yourself to be now.
At
this time, the Temple is woman-centered, and has two
kinds of events:
1) Those that are Temple-sponsored, and
2) Those presented by women teachers leading their
own events, some of which are mixed (male and female
welcome).
For
most Temple-sponsored events such as Sunday Services
and Holy Day Rituals, and when we are open to the
public for prayer, we hold woman-only space,
for women-born women only. We hold this boundary to
allow the greatest number of women possible the opportunity
to circle together under womens spiritual authority,
experience the unique vibration that is female, and
have a safe and sacred space in which to heal from
the ills of patriarchy, free from the male gaze.
This
is far from a perfect solution, we know, and we know
well that it does not respond appropriately to all
those who do not fit into one of societys two
basic boxes, female and male. We regret that our modern
American culture does not properly recognize or appreciate
the special nature of the Two Spirit, and holds no
space for them.
This
Temple holds that all beings -- including animals
and insects, grasses, trees, flowers and stones
are Divine and Holy, and created by the Goddess. All
life is held in reverence, even as we hold our woman-only
boundary.
We
continue to discuss this in circle meetings, with
much compassion and heartfelt concern. Should we come
to a better solution for all in the future, we will
let you know. In the meantime, we cordially invite
you to attend our many wonderful events open to all.
These can be found on our calendar, indicated at each
applicable listing by the notation: for women
and men.
Please
feel free to contact us and share your further thoughts,
which we hold in deepest honoring and respect.
May
we reach a place of being in our world where there
is Reverence for Life evident throughout society at
every turn for every being.
Blessed
be,
Ava
