DESCRIPTION: Today: “ The QUEENS SPEAK” On this day, we ask that the members of Queen age of our Temple take the floor and speak from their hearts what they wish to share with the rest of the congregation. Each woman has three minutes at the microphone. It does not have to be a spoken presentation … but can be a dance, or poem, or any other form. To have your three minutes, e-mail the Temple at info@goddesstempleoforangecounty and let us know that you wish to be placed on the list for this day. First nine respondents will receive a spot. We ask that you be of queen age, or from peri-menopause/menopause, or perhaps somewhere between 45 and 50, or close to that range, to whatever you consider to be “crone” age … perhaps 60 to 65. ABOUT the WORKSHOP: Pele is the Hawaiian Goddess of the volcanoes and the personification of the internal forces of the Earth. Known for her fiery passion, creativity and sensuality, she represents volcanic majesty and power in all its glory. With her dual abilities to create and destroy, Pele teaches us how anger can be divine, and that a fiery passion can lead us to our hearts truest desire. She tells us that what enrages us can also transform us, and that the result of this deeper understanding is great change. Pele is a goddess who allows the life force to flow through Her, animating, changing and transforming all she contacts. Her supreme power is creating new life from the old.
It is well known and widely documented that men externalise their rage in the most inappropriate ways through uncontrolled rape, violence, destruction and war, while we women internalise our rage, crying alone and often becoming deeply and chronically depressed.
In this workshop, we will work with Pele, great ancient Mother of Fire, Creatrix and Destroyer, to access our own fire in the belly and transform the anger we all feel living in a world that does not respect LIFE. We will have the time and the space to transform our anger into positive action in our lives and in the world. We will invoke Pele through ritual and explore Her story, using breath, movement and voice to access our anger, to find out what it is trying to tell us. Then we will create our own healing chant to continue this critical work in our daily lives.
This work will open the doors to your own creativity and joy. And when we can access our joy in any moment, we are truly on the path to serenity in every moment.

DESCRIPTION: The frame drum is one of the oldest universal instruments in the world, a powerful archetype and tool of remembrance, its circular shape symbolizing wholeness ... unity ... oneness. The predominant players were women, priestesses in service to the Goddess. DESCRIPTION: In this regular series in October of every year, we learn the meanings of blessing, how different cultures bless, and specific spoken blessings. We learn the difference between purification and blessing, how to bless spontaneously (and why this is a primary spiritual duty of all women everywhere), how to increase the power of your personal blessing using your physical female body as a magnifier. We also have hands-on experience using the tools of blessing, including water, bells, palo santo, feathers, fire, salt and other tools. We conclude each service with a specific blessing, a different focus each Sunday: for ourselves and our sisters (living and crossed over, today, October 4), our families, including companion animals (next service October 11), our world leaders (October 18), all of creation (October 25). Optional but encouraged: please bring pictures or images of anyone, any being, anything that you wish to bless. Blessed be the Blessing of Women!

Themes: reparation/righting of wrongs/asking forgiveness/confession/pain/suffering/karma
This day our theme is “reparation/righting of wrongs” and “asking forgiveness/confession.” Many women have unpleasant associations with the “act of confession” in other traditions, yet the essential principle of unburdening oneself before a kind and loving person or group is psychologically sound and healthy, if carried out in a respectful and supportive environment free of guilt and shame. On this day, congregants may come forward and share something personal … perhaps about a wrong they believe they committed, how they feel about it, and what they have learned from it. Members can also use this time to apologize publicly to one another if they so choose, or perhaps to ask forgiveness from someone who has passed, their request being witnessed by the loving group. If a member does not have the courage to speak aloud, she can write her words and give them that morning to the facilitator, who will read them -- anonymously, if the woman chooses. We will not “sign up” in advance to speak, as this must unfold spontaneously and in the moment. If no one comes forward, we will spend the 25 minutes together in quiet personal prayer and reflection. Whatever the case, the space will be kept utterly safe for each woman.

Jan will be helping us to uncover our grief -- secret and hidden grief lurking under the surface of our awareness … grief and sadness that keep us from experiencing our true, full and complete Divine Joy. She will also expertly help us to release tribal myths about grief and sadness that we may unconsciously hold, mistaken beliefs that prevent us from moving forward in Divine Enthusiasm. So many women don’t permit even the smallest bit of their grief to arise to be processed, mistakenly believing that if they allow any opening at all, a flood of overwhelming sadness will overtake them —permanently. It will not! In this spiritual series, Sacred Tears will indeed probably flow … and you will NOT be overwhelmed … instead, you will feel lighter as each Sunday passes.
This is work so many of us so desperately need! Depression, anger, illness, fear, anxiety … many of our issues in life are directly or indirectly related to the heavy and huge amounts of unacknowledged grief that we are dragging around inside our chests. “The CRONES SPEAK”
On this day, we ask that the members of crone or elder age of our Temple take the floor and speak from their hearts what they wish to share with the rest of the congregation. Each woman has three minutes at the microphone. It does not have to be a spoken presentation … but can be a dance, or poem, or any other form. To have your three minutes, e-mail the Temple at info@goddesstempleoforangecounty and let us know that you wish to be placed on the list for this day. First nine respondents will receive a spot. We ask that you be of crone, or elderwoman age, perhaps 60 to 65 on up. The specific age at which a woman moves from “queen” to “crone” is, like all the other phases, very personal and individual. These ages are guidelines only. The themes for the day are: cycles, wholeness and universality, however, as an elder woman you may speak on any topic you wish.

DESCRIPTION: Join your sisters in the Circle of The TEMPLE that has the joyful, creative and magical charge of helping ritual to unfold in our Sacred Space. From the Entering Ritual at the bridge every Sunday morning, to our eight “Holy Day” rituals each year, to special and unique ceremony, this is the core of ritual and ceremony in our goddess community. This regular meeting held on Wednesdays every two to three weeks, also serves as our basic priestess training class for The TEMPLE. All members welcome to sit in for a few meetings to see if this feels good to you. Great way to work in sacred space with other women. Meet around an altar in circle at a private residence in Irvine. Today join us to witness The TEMPLE ceremony formally initiating all members who joined in the past year. If you became a member in approximately the last twelve months, we warmly welcome you to come to TEMPLE to take part in this beautiful ceremony in the traditional season of initiation in our goddess culture. As women having chosen goddess spirituality and a goddess temple, you are indeed an initiate … “an adept--one who has special knowledge and abilities.” If you joined The TEMPLE anytime between January, 2009, and now, please join us on this day for Sunday Services at 11 am. During services, we will call you forward in a group to honor and acknowledge you. You will not have to speak, if you prefer not to do so. No pressure in any way … this is a joyous ritual of welcome, honoring, appreciation and acknowledgment, and we promise it will be a lovely experience for you. If you wish, you may wear white for the Maiden, red for the Mother, gold for the Queen, or black for the Crone, depending upon your age, preferences, and feeling--your choice. (If you are not able to join us personally because of distance, please send a message by e-mail to your sisters … a message of greeting, of love, support and sisterhood .. say whatever you wish .. and it will be read in ceremony during Services. GAYE NELSON
TEMPLE Astrologer*
Gaye Nelson, expert in astrology, tarot and Emotional Release Work, began studying metaphysics as a young girl. She has been a full-time professional astrologer since 1988, with thousands of clients, including celebrities and intriguing people in many professions. Gaye grew up in Hollywood, a fourth-generation Californian. Her mother, Anne Nelson, has had a legendary executive career at CBS since 1945 and is currently Vice President of Business Affairs. Gaye’s father, Harmon Oscar Nelson, Jr., musician, bandleader and advertising executive, was the inspiration for the “Oscar,” the Academy Award statuette, given by his first wife, actress Bette Davis.
Gaye was an Honors Student at Westchester High School and graduated Cum Laude with a B.A. in Theater Arts from UCLA. She did a year of Postgraduate work in Psychology at CSUN.
She is a Double Gemini and has had many different careers. She started working in show business at age three as the Campbell’s Soup girl, followed by more than 30 years of appearances on stage, film, television and radio, as model, actress and singer. As a cover girl for Seventeen, she was the subject of a four-page feature article about how she successfully combined her show business career with her spirituality. She was also a Casting Director.
She was the Community Health Educator for Planned Parenthood, doing public speaking on sexuality issues with both teens and adults. She also assisted medical staff at the clinic and taught Natural Family Planning. She was a Bradley Method Childbirth Educator for 15 years (starting four years before she had a home birth with her daughter in 1985). She was one of the creators of A Sound Beginning, a unique prenatal parenting program.
Gaye launched her radio program “Corners of the Heart” in 1990, shortly thereafter moving it to cable television in Los Angeles, where it is still going strong. She discusses inspirational topics extemporaneously.
Currently, Gaye’s clients receive the guidance she offers through her in-depth astrology and tarot readings, tapes on the current “spiritual weather,” called “Astrology To Go,” a hands-on healing technique called Emotional Release Work, and Astrocartography, which helps people find the best places to live, work and play. She does house blessings and officiates at weddings. She is a Vice-President of the AFI Associates, the fundraising group for the American Film Institute.
Gaye Nelson has spent a lifetime creating magic, and is the official Astrologer for The GODDESS TEMPLE of Orange County, providing the Sunday congregation with the “Spiritual Weather Report” once a month, among other astrology services.

Moon Names
Full Moon names date back to Native Americans, of what
is now the northern and eastern United States. Those
tribes of a few hundred years ago kept track of the
seasons by giving distinctive names to each recurring
full Moon. Their names were applied to the entire month
in which each occurred. There were some variations in
the Moon names, but in general the same ones were current
throughout the Algonquin tribes from New England on
west to Lake Superior. European settlers followed their
own customs and created some of their own names. Since
the lunar ("synodic") month is roughly 29.5
days in length on average, the dates of the full Moon
shift from year to year.
